What is PayPal and how it works

In recent years, more and more people are talking about PayPal and more and more people use this method of payment for their purchases and sales, both for security and practical reasons; but what is PayPal and how does it work?

How paypal works
WHAT IS PAYPAL AND HOW IT WORKS
PayPal is a company, controlled by eBay, which offers digital payment services and money transfer via the Internet. The strength of the system, and what differentiates it from others, lies in allowing transactions to be carried out without any sharing of credit card data with the recipient of the payment.

HOW DOES IT WORK
The first step in order to use the PayPal system is to register on the company's website; Registration is free and allows you to open an account with which you can make payments using only your e-mail address and password.
You can associate a credit card, a prepaid card with your account, or top up your bank account with a bank transfer (no charge).
Another advantage of the PayPal account is that you can also transfer money to your account or card; moreover, PayPal makes available to its customers that request a credit card (VISA) and a prepaid card (MASTERCARD).

HOW TO REGISTER
Once you have logged in to www.paypal.com, click on Signup Now and then select the type of account you wish to open; the choice will be between:
Personal Account, perfect if you want to use PayPal for online shopping or for small transfers of money;
Business Account, indicated for individuals or companies that need to receive payments on their sites or online stores.
Once this is done, you will be asked for your personal data, e-mail address and password.
You can choose the Premier account, which allows you to accept credit cards from users who wish to deposit money into your PayPal account; rates will be applied for the receipt of payments ranging from 1.8% to 3.4% of total sales, plus € 0.35 for each transaction.
After filling in these fields, click on Sign up.
Now you can decide whether to insert a credit or debit card; the card is mandatory if you wish to receive or send amounts over 750 euros.
After filling out the optional procedure you will need to check your e-mail inbox and click on the confirmation link and then enter your username and password in your PayPal account.

THE SECURITY
One of the distinctive features of PayPal services is the security program that the company offers; it is a protection for buyers and sellers that covers the entire purchase amount in case of non-delivery or delivery of an object other than the one described.
PayPal guarantees sellers effective protection against losses caused by claims for fraudulent payments or items not received.

THE COMFORTS
PayPal is supported by a wide range of online shops and Internet sites, first of all eBay which, as we said, has acquired ownership of the service and since 2002 PayPal is the default payment method for eBay auctions.
On all these sites you can pay with PayPal by simply clicking the service logo and entering the password for your account.
To send money you need to connect to the PayPal home page and select the text "Send money" and then enter the recipient's e-mail address. In the event of lack of liquidity in the PayPal account, the service will automatically pick up the money on the credit card associated with your account.
To receive payments to your PayPal account, simply communicate the e-mail address associated with your account.
Of course, you can also transfer money from your PayPal account to your bank account or to your card associated with your account by selecting "Transfer money to your bank account" instead of "Transfer money to your card" in the "Withdraw" menu.
If you wish to deposit money from your bank account to your PayPal account, you will need to select "Reload account" and make a bank transfer following the instructions provided by the service.
There is also an application developed specifically for PayPal that allows you to make transactions from mobile phones; it's called Send Money and is available for both iPhone and Windows Phone.
